Similar incident happened three weeks ago on August 7 wherein a 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly masturbating in front of a woman on the platform of Delhi Metro station. The incident had happened on Mandi House station.
The woman - who boarded a Metro from Tughlaqbad station - was waiting for a friend at the station when the accused - identified as Shivam Sharma, standing on the opposite platform - allegedly began masturbating in front of her. She then filed a complaint with CISF, in charge of manning Metro stations.
However, before they could get a hold of him, the accused boarded a metro. The accused was then tracked using the CCTV footage, which had captured the incident, and later arrested from Begumpur area.
These incidents came months after another man was booked for masturbating in a metro train. A video of a man engaging in the act in a metro train had gone viral on social media. Following which the Delhi Commission for Women Chief Swati Maliwal issued a notice to the police asking them to file a case against the man spotted in the video. The police, taking suo moto action, filed a case under Section 294 (obscene acts and songs) of the Indian Penal Code against the man.
