A Delhi court on Tuesday sent actor-activist Deep Sidhu to seven-day police custody in connection with the Red Fort violence on the Republic Day during farmers' tractor parade against the Centre's three new agri laws.

Metropolitan Magistrate Prigya Gupta sent Sidhu to the custody after the police alleged he was one of the main instigators of the violent incidents at the Red Fort. Sidhu's counsel, however, claimed he had nothing to do with the violence and was at the wrong place at the wrong time. The police had announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh for information leading to Sidhu's arrest.

Thousands of protesting farmers who reached ITO from the Ghazipur border clashed with police. Many of them driving tractors reached the Red Fort and entered the monument, where the religious flag was also hoisted. Over 500 police personnel were injured and one protestors died.

Farmer dies at Tikri border
Deepak, a 28-year-old farmer from Haryana's Rohtak district, died after sustaining serious head injuries when he fell off a tractor-trolley while distributing ration to protesting farmers, police said on Tuesday. They said the accident took place at Bahadurgarh bypass road on February 5 and he died during treatment.

SC stays arrest of Tharoor, 6 journos
The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the arrest of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and six journalists in connection with FIRs lodged against them for their allegedly misleading tweets on the violence during the farmers' tractor rally on the Republic Day.
