Ahead of the monsoon session of parliament commencing on Thursday, the Congress party has demanded a discussion on the situation in Manipur. During the all-party meeting held before the session, the leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, asserted that if the government wants Parliament to function smoothly, it should provide space for the opposition's issues.

Chowdhury highlighted that he had raised various issues in the Business Advisory Committee meeting and reiterated them during the all-party meeting. Among the issues that the Congress is seeking to be discussed are the situation in Manipur, which has been deteriorating for over two months. Chowdhury called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the situation with a statement in Parliament and allow a debate on the matter.

Apart from the Manipur situation, the Congress also seeks discussions on other pressing issues, including floods in various parts of the country, the railway tragedy in Odisha's Balasore, unemployment, price rise, and attacks on the federal structure. Furthermore, they want debates on the India-China border issue and trade imbalance.

Chowdhury emphasized that for Parliament to function effectively, the ruling party should give space to the opposition's issues. He stated that the government must allow the opposition to raise all the matters they find crucial.
