Four booked for violation of election code of conduct in Kothrud

Even before the nominations for the Assembly polls could kick off, four people, including the Kothrud MNS President, have been booked for violation of the model code of conduct in the Kothrud constituency.

MNS's Ram Borkar was booked for hoisting a party flag without permission. Borkar said, "Hoisting a party flag on private property is not a violation. I haven't received any notice about this." But election officials confirmed the action against him.

They added that Dr Yashraj Parkhi, a probable candidate of the Parvivartan Aghadi, had been booked for publishing a pamphlet titled '10 Command-ments for healthy living', in which he appealed for votes.

The other defaulters are a Sena leader, who displayed a cutout of the party symbol, and Balasaheb Patil, a member of the Marathwada Mukti Morcha, who held a political event without permission.

According to the returning election officer for the constituency, Rajendra Muthe, an FIR has been filed against the four. He said, "We have five Quick Response Teams to check violation of the code."
