The Indian Air Force, on Wednesday informed that the Chief of Defence Staff, Bipin Laxman Singh Rawat has died aged 63 in a chopper crash in Tamil Nadu's Coonoor.
The crash has claimed 13 lived including General Rawat's wife Dr Madhulika Rawat. 14 passengers including General Rawat, Dr Madhulika Rawat, security personnel, and Defence Assistant were on board the Air Force's Mi-17V5 helicopter which was headed to a Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, where Gen Rawat was scheduled to give a lecture.
