India adds 41,506 more Coronavirus infections and 895 fatalities in a span of 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry’s Sunday morning data

With 41,506 people testing positive for Coronavirus in a day, India's total tally of Covid-19 cases rose to 3,08,37,222, while the active cases declined to 4,54,118, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday. The death toll has climbed to 4,08,040 with 895 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.

‘Testing scam report soon'

The investigation into the alleged Covid testing scam, which took place during the Kumbh Mela in Uttarakhand this year, is in the final stages and the report is likely to be received in the next two-three days, Haridwar District Magistrate C Ravishankar said on Sunday. "The report would be sent to the Uttarakhand government for action," he said in an official statement.

‘37 partying in hotel held'

At least 37 people were arrested in the early hours of Sunday from a five-star hotel in Kolkata for partying, in defiance of the Covid-19-related restrictions, police said. "During the raid, some of those arrested pushed and manhandled police officers," a senior Kolkata police officer said. Two high-end cars, 38 mobile phones and a ganja ‘puria' were among the several items seized.
