A 24-year-old Muslim man in Bengaluru has alleged that he was assaulted by a sub-inspector in Byatarayanapura police station. He also claimed that the officer forced him to drink urine.

In a video accessed by Hindustan Times, the man alleged his beard was cut-off inside the police station. "They hit me with a cricket bat, they cut beard and made me drink urine when asked for water. When I told them not to cut my beard because it was part of my faith, they said the police station was not my religious centre. They hit me more than 30 times with a cricket bat," said the man, as reported by HT.

According to the report, the man was taken to the police station over a quarrel with his neighbour. He was kept in the station for two days, without filing any case against him, the man's family alleged.

Once he was let off, the man was taken to the city's Victoria Hospital after the alleged attack by the police officer.

Following the man's claims, a probe has been ordered in the matter.
