Legal representatives of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and four other leaders have requested an extension from Delhi Police for their appearance in the 'deepfake video' case involving Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The lawyers highlighted their clients' incapacity to comply with the summons due to current legal processes involving the alleged doctored video clip in the Amit Shah deepfake video case, according to a report in ANI.
The Delhi Police had called CM Reddy and others as part of their probe into the transmission of a video in which Union Home Minister Amit Shah purportedly spoke out against reservations, a claim later refuted by the BJP.
According to another report, the summons, which was initially planned for May 1, demanded the accused's presence, as well as their mobile devices and laptops, for forensic investigation. However, the legal counsel requested more time, which resulted in a postponement of their presence.

Delhi Police said that it was necessary of personal attendance or email responses to move the inquiry in Amit Shah deepfake video case forward.
Previously, Delhi Police's Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit summoned persons from different states under relevant sections of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to produce evidence and participate in the inquiry, the ANI report added.
The Assam Police have previously arrested Reetom Singh in connection with the matter, claiming that the video was circulated by various Congress leaders.
In response, the BJP's Telangana unit filed a complaint against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and others, accusing them of inventing and morphing Amit Shah's remarks, the report added.
The inquiry continues as the Telangana Chief Minister and others seek an extension of their appearance before Delhi Police's Cyber Unit.
Per the ANI report, in Congress-ruled Telangana, during a public rally, Shah, per the video, said, "If the BJP forms the government here, we will withdraw the unconstitutional reservations to Muslims here. We will ensure that the SCs, STs and OBCs get quotas as guaranteed under the Constitution."
The BJP Mumbai unit had also filed a complaint against the Maharashtra Youth Congress' social media handle and 16 people for allegedly disseminating a deepfake video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, officials said on Tuesday. The bogus video alleged to show BJP leader Amit Shah announcing the decrease of quota privileges for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs), reported PTI.
