Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik on Sunday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was "arrogant" when he met him to talk about the farmer protests.
Addressing a social function at Dadri in Haryana, Malik said, "when I went to meet the Prime Minister to discuss the farmer issue, I started fighting with him within five minutes. He was very arrogant. When I told him that 500 farmers had died, he said, âDid they die for me?'" Malik said as quoted by the Indian Express. He also said that the prime minister asked him to Amit Shah and so he did.
The Congress shared the video of Malik on Twitter and said, "Vanity... cruelty... insensitivity. In BJP Governor's statement, these 'qualities' of PM Modi's personality are mentioned. This a matter of concern for a democracy."
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Twitter wrote, "Meghalaya's Governor Sri Satya Pal Malik is on record saying PM was 'arrogant' on the issue of Farmers and HM Amit Shah called the PM as 'mad'. Constitutional authorities speaking about each other with such contempt! Narendra Modiji is this true?"
