Every year, at Ummeed Child Development Center, we participated in a global campaign called #LightItUpBlue which was started by Autism Speaks, USA, where various buildings and heritage monuments in the city were illuminated blue to support the cause. We also organised several outreach programs through the month such as workshops and seminars in hospitals and schools, art therapy workshops for the Ummeed children with autism and their parents, and so forth.

This year, as a part of the campaign, we took a step further and asked people what they are doing to light up blue i.e. what are you doing to increase awareness?

World Autism Awareness Day is celebrated on April 2, after it was recognised internationally by the United Nation. The step was taken to raise awareness about people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) throughout the world.
World Autism Awareness Day was first introduced at the United Nations General Assembly on November 1, 2007, and the resolution was passed and adopted without a vote in the Assembly. This was seen primarily as a supplement to previous UN initiatives to improve human rights. It's one of the seven official health-specific UN Days.
The objective of the day is to bring individual autism organizations together all around the world to aid in things like research, diagnoses, treatment, and acceptance for those affected by this developmental disorder.
