The National Commission for Women (NCW) Thursday strongly criticised the serial "Na Aana Is Desh Lado" aired on Colors TV for the way it portrays women.
In a statement Girija Vyas, chairperson of NCW, said the commission has asked for clarifications from the channel because the serial presents women in a poor light and appears to be derogatory, and outrages the modesty of women.
Vyas stated that the commission strongly condemns the recently aired episodes of the serial, where women are subjected to torture and coerced into sexual acts outside marriage. These acts shock the social and moral values of society, and therefore, such episodes should not be telecast.
"Na Aana Is Desh Lado" is a fictional drama that focuses on prevalent social evils in Indian society such as female infanticide.
