A 38-year-old schoolteacher died after she allegedly fell from the fourth floor of a residential building in east Delhi's Seemapuri area, police said today.
The incident took place around 6:30 PM yesterday. The woman was rushed to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The deceased, identified as Madhu Sharma, was teacher of a government school in Noida. She had separated from her husband and lived in the building with her three children.
Although no suicide note has been recovered from the spot, investigators found a plastic stool at the spot on the building's terrace from where she fell.
"It indicates that she used the stool to jump off... But she does not essentially needed the stool to jump off the terrace," said a police officer.
The woman had a marital discord with her husband, and this could have led her to take the extreme step, the officer said, adding that they have registered a case of causing death by negligence at Seemapuri police station.
