Panaji: Award winning poet and BJP legislator from Goa, Vishnu Wagh Monday used a social networking site to question his party's inability to name a "captain" to lead the charge for the Maharashtra assembly polls.
Wagh said on his timeline that the decision to name a leader had yielded a dividend in the polls in the recent past.
A brilliant multi-lingual orator, Wagh campaigned for the Bhartiya Janata Party in Maharashtra during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
"Just think... we declared our captain in Goa far ahead of the polls and got a clear majority... We declared our captain for Lok Sabha in advance and got a thumping majority... Then why we are not doing the same in Maharashtra? Can someone tell?" said Wagh, a legislator from the St. Andre assembly constituency located near Panaji.
The BJP won the 2012 Goa assembly polls in which Manohar Parrikar was the chief ministerial candidate. In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP's campaign had Narendra Modi as the party's prime ministerial candidate.
The BJP, going alone for the Maharashtra assembly polls after its 25-year-old alliance with the Shiv sena snapped, has not put up a prominent face to lead the campaign.
