While sources in the hospital confirmed the inquiry, members of the management dismissed such claims. Sources also alleged that theu00a0management has claimed that they will find the culprit who released the letter to the media and take strict action against that person.
MiD DAY had on Tuesday reported about a complaint filed by sister Priscilla, in-charge of Ward-9 from where a baby was kidnapped last
week. In her letter dated October 11, the sister had warned the hospital matron about lack of adequate staff and possibility of a baby
getting kidnapped due to overcrowding. The hospital management though ignored the warning following which a baby was stolen from the same ward on October 24.
On Tuesday, an internal inquiry was allegedly initiated against sister Priscilla wherein she was asked to clarify how the letter had reached
the media. Sources also claimed that Priscilla broke down under pressure of the inquiry fearing that she would lose her job. However,
when the management was contacted they denied any such inquiry.
The Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity hospital spokesperson said, "No such inquiry has been initiated against the said nurse. Whatever the nurse did by
filing a complaint is justified and we support it. Dr. MJ Jassawala may have called the sister Priscilla to confirm if she had any
knowledge about how the letter had reached the media. The management is also looking forward to include her suggestions in improving the
safety of the hospital."
MiD DAY tried to contact Dr Jassawala, but he was not available for comments.
