Coimbatore: In a tragic incident, a mother elephant frantically tried waking up it's six-month-old calf that died near the Mangarai area on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border.
According to forest officials, the baby elephant, which was around six-months old, was injured and died from exhaustion.
The mother elephant mourned her calf's death and stood for hours trying to revive it by pouring water. The heartbreaking incident was capture on camera.

She did not allow forest officials and local residents to come near the dead calf for a long time. Finally the forest officials managed to remove the- dead calf from the site, but the restless mother elephant is still searching for its baby.
Another similar incident was filmed in the first week of July in which an orphaned 3-year-old elephant mourned its mother's death and tried to wake her up.
The incident was recorded in Narasipuram, Tamil Nadu and the video became viral.
