Unnao rape survivor and her lawyer were critically injured when their car collided with a truck last year
Lawyer Mahendra Singh died in a district hospital Monday after a prolonged illness.
Singh was the lawyer of the rape victim of the Makhi rape case in which former BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar has been convicted.
Mahendra Singh and the rape victim had been injured in a car crash in Rae Bareli, last year in July.
Both were admitted to AIIMS in Delhi for advanced treatment. While the rape victim was discharged after two months, Singh was sent home and asked to take complete rest.

According to family sources, his condition began deteriorating on Sunday night and was admitted to district hospital. He passed away on Monday due to multiple organ failure.
His younger brother Pinku said, "He never recovered from that accident."
