New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) reiterated its opposition to the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), with General Secretary Maulana Wali Rahmani saying it is not acceptable to the Muslims.

"The SC can intervene in any matter. But our request is that the matter of triple talaaq should be considered in its entirety (and not just as a women's right issue)," Rahmani said.

The AIMPLB leader said that Muslims in India have always respected and obeyed all laws of the land in independent India but they would not tolerate any interference in their personal laws.

Meanwhile, the Indian Union Muslim League also agreed that UCC was not practical and questioned the Union government's reason for raising it now.
