The incident took place at Talawade near Dehu when 22-year-old Sachin Rambhau Kalokhe and his cousin Rishikesh Kalokhe were on their way home.
Both escaped unhurt as the bullet hit the left door of the car. Soon after the incident, Sachin approached the Dehuroad police station and lodged a complaint against one Sainath Mohite and his accomplice.
In his complaint, he stated that Sainath, who is a history-sheeter and has two cases registered against him, had fired at them after he had questioned him over his relationship with their relative a few days ago.
Police Sub-inspector Lalasaheb Gavhane, investigating officer in the case, said, "The accused,Sainath is allegedly in a relationship with a girl Manjusha Memane who is a relative of the complainant. When Sachin got to know about Manjusha's affair with Sainath, he and his cousin Rishikesh had asked Sainath to stay away from Manjusha."
"Furious over this, Sainath and his friend kept a track of Sachin's movements. They began following them. Around 9 pm on Sunday night, when Sachin and Rishikesh were heading towards Talawade in their car, Sainath who was riding pillion on a bike fired one shot towards Sachin. The bullet, however, hit the left door of the car and Sachin escaped unhurt in the attack," Gavhane added.
"The ballistic analysis of the bullet recovered has revealed that the weapon, which is of .765mm calibre, has been illegally procured. We have identified Sainath's accomplice and will arrest the duo soon," PSI Gavhane added.
