Builder Devenbhai Jaisukhlal Shah
Two unidentified bike-borne miscreants gunned down a 55-year-old builder late on Saturday night, when he was about to enter his house at Prabhat Road, Pune, along with his son. Though the actual reason behind the incident is yet to be known, police suspect it to be the fallout of a land dispute.
The deceased has been identified as Devenbhai Jaisukhlal Shah, 55. Though he was a native of Mumbai, but for the last 14 years he was staying at Sayli Apartments in Pune along with his wife and son Atit. The incident came to light when Atit filed a complaint at the Deccan Gymkhana police station in the matter.
Speaking to mid-day, Basavraj Teli, deputy commissioner of police (zone I), said, "Shah owned the Ambika Group and mainly used to deal with constructions. The incident took place when he and his son were about to enter their house. Two miscreants on a bike shot five rounds at him, of which three bullets pierced his body. Though he was immediately rushed to Poona Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment."

Ajay Kadam, senior inspector of Deccan Gymkhana police station, who is investigating the case, said, "The incident took place around 11.10 pm on Saturday. His son is the only witness in the case. Based on his version, we are trying to identify the culprits. We are also going through the CCTV footages recovered from the area. The culprits will be nabbed soon."
