Two 'inebriated' cadets drown in AFMC tank

Two MBBS final-year cadets from the Armed Forces Medical College drowned in a tank located on the institute premises in the wee hours yesterday.


Two MBBS final-year cadets from the Armed Forces Medical College drowned in a tank located on the institute premises in the wee hours yesterday. Both students were inebriated, the police said. The deceased, Gautam Mishra (23) and Naresh Bansar (22), and a friend Anurag Gupta (22) had dived into the tank after getting drunk around 2.30 am.

While Gupta managed to get out of the tank, the others drowned in the deep waters after they slipped. "They were taken to the Command Hospital in Kondhwa and were declared brought dead by the doctors," Police Sub-Inspector A K Patil said. Mishra was from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Bansal was from Bhatinda, Punjab. When contacted, Gupta refused to comment.
