48 hrs after the attack, prompted by the busting of their booze party, 3 of the 4 accused have managed to evade arrest
Three of the four youths who allegedly assaulted two police constables with sickles in the Ghorpadi area on Saturday night are still absconding and are reported to have taken shelter in the outskirts of Pune city. Nearly 48 hours after the assault, the Mundhwa cops are yet to nab them despite knowing their possible whereabouts.

Constable Sahebrao Kodag, who was seriously injured after being attacked with a sickle on the head is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Kodag and his colleague Padmakar Shelar were attacked by the suspects with two sickles after they were asked to vacate a public space where they were found drinking liquor while celebrating the birthday of Raju Nayak (28), a resident of Ghorpadi Gaon, who has been arrested in the case. Shelar had sustained minor injuries.
Nayak was remanded in police custody till May 22 by a court of the Judicial Magistrate (First Class) on Monday. The absconding suspects were identified as Rohan Ravindra Pawar (20), Nayan Ganesh Patole (22), both from Nana Peth and Paul Wilson Joseph-Das (25) from Hadapsar.
Police Inspector Rajendra Chavan from Mundhwa police station said, "We have got police custody of Nayak. We have to recover the weapons used by the suspects and will also check their criminal background. The absconding trio was located at the outskirts of the city, but so far they have managed to evade arrest.
We will arrest them soon." All four suspects have been booked under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 333 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint) and 323 (Puni-shment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.
