Chanting the slogan 'Teri Jan Meri Jan, Ahad Jan Ahad Jan' people gathered outside Abdul Ahad Jan's house and demanded his immediate releaseA suspended cop flung a shoe at Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah at an Independence Day function yesterday. Identified as Abdul Ahad Jan, the shoe hurler was quickly overpowered and taken into custody.
However, soon after his arrest, people swarmed Jan's village and demanded his immediate release. According to eyewitness, amid pro-freedom slogans, people converged from adjoining areas of Bandipore and marched towards Jan's house.
It's believed that Jan has allegedly told the interrogators that he was incited by a political party leader to hurl the shoe at Omar Abdullah. Jan was suspended for not reporting to duty during the curfew days.
