The strike by group C and D employees of Delhi hospitals has been called off

With the health staff at government hospitals in the capital returning to work, services are expected to be normal from today.

The workers called off their strike after the Delhi government promised to look into their demands.
"Striking group C and D employees of the city hospitals have called off their strike and returned to work with immediate effect, thus bringing normalcy to health services," a senior government official said.

He said the Delhi Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has decided to consider their demands and send recommendations to the Centre.

"Parity between technical and nursing staff would be maintained and their grievances in respect of 6th Pay Commission would be referred to anomalies committee.

The cabinet has also assured them to take up the issue of revision of the uniform allowance as well to take steps to fill vacant posts as demanded by them," the official added.

Work at several hospitals in the national capital had come to a standstill since last week after the Group C and D health employees under the banner of the All India Health Employees and Workers Confederation went on strike to press for their demands.
