Sonia defends son-in-law over corruption charges made by Kejriwal

Soon after anti-corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal dropped a bombshell Friday alleging that Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra has benefitted from the DLF realty firm in hundreds of crores for government favours in land transfers, the Congress president herself issued a brief statement denying the charge.

While the entire Congress machinery was activated to refute the charges, Gandhi in her statement from 10 Janpath residence said there was "no misuse by Robert Vadra."

DLF also issued a statement saying the "business relationship with Robert Vadra is completely transparent, conducted to the highest standards of ethics".u00a0Congress called the charges as political chicanery aimed at tarring the Gandhis black, while the BJP demanded a thorough probe.

Social activist turned politician Arvind Kejriwal and his team member Prashant Bhushan dropped their âcorruption bombshell' by naming Robert Vadra, husband of Priyanka Gandhi, as a beneficiary of Rs 300 crore in a huge property deal by DLF company under which he was allegedly given properties in a throwaway price. They claimed Vadra was rewarded for the favours to DLF by Congress governments in Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan.

Congress trashed the charges made in a press conference by Kejriwal.
