A poverty-stricken Shiksha mitra allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house here in the district, police said today. The deceased, identified as Manmohan Singh (35), who allegedly committed suicide on Monday had left a suicide note, they said.
However, according to the UP shiksha mitra sangh, Manmohan committed suicide because the Basic Shiksha Parishad did not pay his due salary of five months. They alleged that the department, which they claimed did not have any shortage of money, paid him salary for two months only, against the actual seven months. The victim in his suicide note mentioned about the non-payment of salary, police said.
The body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem yesterday, they said, adding that an investigation into the matter was underway.
