While most people look forward to Independence Day as a day off to watch the tricolour being unfurled and to distribute sweets at community gatherings, a city-based greeting card company is trying to make a difference this year with a unique initiative.u00a0
The company, 21 Fools, is encouraging people to buy Independence Day cards from their website which will be sent to the Indian Army soldiers.
Each card costs Rs 50 and people are more than welcome to place bulk orders. "Our main aim is to show our gratitude to our soldiers at the border by sending them greeting cards which we have put together in the past one week after tying up with the Indian Army who will help us distribute the cards," said, Divyanshu Asopa, co- founder of 21 Fools.
So far, the company has been trying to gain interest via social media and other collaborations. They hope to reach a target of 10,000 orders by the midnight of August 15 as they expect most of their orders to be placed on Independence Day when people are at their patriotic best. While the name of the person who has bought the card will be displayed on their website, a personal message won't be added.
The photographs which are featured on the cover of the greeting cards are a collage of 28 different people from the different states of India and the photographs have been sent to the company by amateur photographers.
"As this is a non-profit effort, Rs 5 will be put aside from every single order and that money will be used to print more greeting cards that will be shipped on our behalf. We have so far got 500 orders from different people and 1,000 cards will be sent on our behalf," explained Divyanshu.u00a0
