Though government officials termed the transfer routine, sources inside Raj Bhavan said the governor's move is the result of a falling out between Subramaniyam, an Indian Audit and Accounts Service officer andu00a0 Lt Naven Jacob, the ADC to the governor.

Three others, Subramanyiam's under secretary, section officer and two personal assistants were also served transfer orders.

Officials at Raj Bhavan confirmed that Subramaniyam has been transferred but said that she had sought the transfer for personal reasons to which the governor had given his consent.

"She has been transferred but has not been served any transfer orders," said the official.

On Wednesday, the chief secretary visited the spot to take stock of the situation. Chief Secretary SV Ranganath refused to comment on the issue.
