A badly dismembered body of a 24-year-old Russian woman was found on a railway track in a Goa village.
Police officials identified the deceased as Elena Sukhnova, who they claim had arrived in Goa on a tourist visa. Her body was found on the railway track near Revora village, about 30 km from here.
Mapusa police inspector Manjunath Dessai said the deceased was residing at a tourist lodge in the popular Baga beach area.
"We found some documents near the body, which was badly mutilated with several pieces of flesh lying about. The documents showed us where the woman was put up," said Dessai. He said the deceased had left her guest house at 10.30 pm on Thursday and was missing since.

The lodge is nearly 20 km from the place where the body was found. Police may get in touch with the Konkan railway authorities to verify if Elena had booked a ticket on a train.
"We do not know yet. She could also have been knocked down by the locomotive," a police official said. The body has been sent for an autopsy. Police said the Russian consulate authorities had been intimated about the incident.
