A retired army officer was arrested yesterday for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old girl who used to attend his mathematics tuition classes.
SHAMEFUL ACT: The incident came to light when the girl suddenly
refused to attend Singh's classes. Representation picLieutenant Colonel (retd) Tejinder Singh (48), a resident of NIBM road, was arrested by the Kondhwa police.
He has been charged under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code for behaviour with intent to outrage the modesty of the girl after family members of the girl, a resident of Kondhwa, filed a complaint yesterday.
The girl is a standard IX student of Rosary school on Salunke Vihar road.
She was attending maths classes in Singh's Aloha Learning Centre on NIBM road.
As per the complaint Singh used to take classes for students from standard III to X. He allegedly misbehaved with the victim during the lectures held on September 12 and 19.
Police Sub-Inspector R S Kshirsagar from the Kondhwa police station said, "The incident came to light when the victim suddenly refused to attend Singh's classes.
Surprised by her strange behaviour, the girl's parents asked for the reason. The girl then narrated what had happened to her in the classes which took place on September 12 and 19."
"After the girl filed the complaint with us, Singh was arrested around 4.30 pm yesterday," Kshirsagar said, adding that Singh will be produced in court today.
