Rajasthan police team raids Noida plot of former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajasthan who is absconding after raping a tribal woman
It seems the top brass of the police in country are having a very bad year. Close on the heels of SPS Rathore saga hitting headlines, the Noida and Rajasthan police have intensified the hunt for their former Deputy Inspector General Madhukar Tandon, accused of kidnapping and raping a tribal woman.
Malli Devi had lodged an FIR against Tandon in a Noida police station in February 1997. A Ghaziabad court had ordered the police to register her statement on February 6, 1997.
But, even after arrest warrants were issued against the former top cop, he has been able to evade the police for 13 years even after being declared absconding.
A case against him was also registered against him in Bandikui, Rajasthan.
The Ghaziabad SSP will lead the operation to nab Tandon while the Special Operations Group of the Rajasthan police have swung into action.
The former top cop has a bunch of properties in Noida, including a plot in Sector 19. The police got a tip-off that Tandon might visit his property on Wednesday, and therefore, a police team from Rajasthan visited the place. However, they had to return empty-handed.
Malli's husband, Khema Ram was gunman in the security of Tandon.
There are several other unsolved cases against him, including the seizure of Rs 10 lakh in cash from his wife and driver while they were on their way to Noida from Ajmer. Tandon was then Ajmer Superintendent of Police.
