New Delhi: Indian Railways' countrywide massive public outreach prgramme saw commissioning of 233 projects costing around Rs.4,000 crore and commencement of work on 73 projects costing Rs.550 crore, it was announced on Friday.
The public outreach event - passenger and customer facilitation fortnight - was organised from June 26 to July 9.
The fortnight long programme was primarily directed towards improvement of passenger amenities and services, customer care, participation of passenger and railway staff in various activities and for creating awareness amongst the public about Railway's initiatives and achievements, a statement said.
As many as 27,700 inspection drives apprehended and prosecuted 19,286 people, 1,300 health camps organised for passengers, it said.
It said the programme concluded successfully and received appreciation on social media network.
