There is a new twist to the shocking suicide-murder case in Pune, where a software techie slit her 5-year-old son’s wrists, and then jumped to death from her balcony
There is a new twist to the suicide-murder case in Pune, where a software techie, Deepti More, slit her 5-year-old son Aarnav's wrists, and then jumped off the balcony. The cops have now made the father of the boy, Tejas Ankush More (33), a co-accused in the murder case. Police claims that both had domestic issues as they had an inter-caste marriage.
A police officer speaking to mid-day, on condition of anonymity, said, "As per the post-mortem report, during the inquest panchnama, ligature strangulation marks were found on the child's neck. So we suspect that Tejas might be involved in the murder. We are not yet sure, but he was the only person present in the house.

"From neighbours and some documents that we have found, we learnt that Deepti was a Dalit and had a love marriage with Tejas in 2007 against Tejas' parents' wishes, as she was some six months elder to him. She hails from Narayangoan and Tejas from Wai," he added.
He added, "Tejas wanted to bring his parent to stay with him but there were constant fights on this issue between him and Deepti. This might have led to the incident. Tragically, the shocking crime took place on Deepti's birthday."
On Monday, constable Vikas Mane, attached to the Sinhagad police station, which falls under the jurisdiction of Pune city police, registered an FIR with the police against the deceased Deepti (34) and her husband Tejas (33). Cops have registered a case of murder (302) and an act done with common intention (34) against Deepti and Tejas. The latter is admitted to hospital, and is undergoing a treatment. Police will be arresting Tejas when he gets discharged from hospital.
Deepti was working as engineer with a multinational company and resigned six months back while Tejas is a software techie working with TCS. Both are residents of Nikhil Garden society in Manikbaug.
On Sunday morning, around 7 am, Deepti allegedly jumped to death from her balcony. The night before, she allegedly killed her five-year-old son by slitting his wrists and strangulating him.
Inspector Shriniwas Munde, in-charge of Sinhagad police station, who is investigating the case, said, "We have registered a case against Tejas based on the circumstances evidence. We suspect his involvement in the murder of Aarnav, but in Deepti's case it may be suicide."
