With the death of an eight month-old baby at a city hospital due to H1N1 virus, the swine flu toll in Pune has risen to 146.


With the death of an eight month-old baby at a city hospital due to H1N1 virus, the swine flu toll in Pune has risen to 146.

According to the swine flu control room authorities, Sakasham Bhalerao exhibited symptoms of breathlessness, cough and was admitted to KEM Hospital on December 26. Bhalerao had undergone treatment at a local private hospital, but as there was no improvement in his condition he was later moved to KEM Hospital.

He was shifted to the ICU unit of hospital the next day, but his condition continued to deteriorate. He died last afternoon.u00a0

According to doctors, the cause of the infant's death was acute respiratory distress due to community acquired pneumonia with multi organ failure.
