In the investigation of software techie Darshana Tongre's murder, the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) maintained that the agency would be receiving Tongre's cellphone, her computer's hard disk and the mobile phone of her friend, recovered by the Hinjewadi police from the crime scene in Bavdhan.
Additional Director General of Police S P Yadav of CID said that earlier, the issue was handled by the lower rank officers of the CID and the local police stations. However, now the matter is being probed by the senior officials of the CID and senior officers of the city police and the three things would be handed over to CID soon.
A trainee software engineer, Tongare, of Suvarna Park Society at Bavdhan Khurd, was stabbed in the chest with a sharp weapon in a lane outside her house on July 30, 2010 around 9.15 pm.
The incident took place soon after she was dropped by her friend, who is also a software engineer. She died two hours later while undergoing treatment at the Sahyadri hospital at Kothrud.
The Hinjewadi police who were investigating the case, had carried out a spot panchnama and had recovered Tongre's cellphone, her computer's hard disk and the phone of her friend, and later the case was transferred from the Pune police to the CID following an order from the Bombay high court in 2012.u00a0
