Leela's abduction came to light when his son Tinku reported to the police that his father had left the house for Gurgaon on February 7 and did not return. He also told them that he had received a ransom demand of Rs seven lakh for the release of his father.
The abductors had asked him to come to Sohna Chowk in Gurgaon. The police told him to go to Sohna Chowk as the caller had instructed and assured him that a police party will trail him. When Tinku reached Sohna Chowk, the caller, who identified himself as Surender, asked him to come to the toll tax border near the Haldiram outlet.
When he reached there, the caller asked Tinku to come to Laxmi Hotel near Rampura Chowk instead. At the chowk, Tinku saw two persons waiting for him. They asked him for the money. The police party that was trailing Tinku acted swiftly, arrested both the men and freed Leela.
The arrested have been identified as Kailash and Prahlad, both 35 years of age. "During interrogation it came out that around three years back, Leeladhar and three others had asked Surender, a resident of Nakroda village in Manesar, Gurgaon, to donate a golden cow weighing 31 tolas for better luck.u00a0 But soon after, he suffered huge losses in his business and asked them to return the cow.
