SHE'S A BIG GIRL NOW: Ramya BETWEEN TWO WOMEN: Actor-turned-director Prakash Raj and the 17-year-old Amulya.
Insiders say star felt the Sandalwood sensation's 27 years did not suit the lead female role in his directorial debut Nanu Nanna Kanasu; Ramya claims it was she who chose to walk out over money
Actress Ramya is not good enough for actor Prakash Raj, who is believed to have replaced the Sandalwood sensation with 17-year-old Amulya of Cheluvina Chittara fame for the lead female role in his directorial debut Nanu Nanna Kanasu.
Sources close to Prakash say the actor-turned-director is of the view that 27-year-old Ramya is too old for the role.
However, Ramya told MiD DAY that she was the one to walk out of the film, which is said to be Prakash's tribute to the 14-year-old son he lost in an accident.
"I'm no longer acting in Prakash's movie. I have stepped out of the venture.
Prakash offered Rs 16 lakh, when Rs 30 lakh is what we had earlier agreed upon.
He said there were budgetary constraints, so I walked out of the project. Had my age been an issue, why would he book a designer for me and allot shooting dates?" asked Ramya.
Prakash Raj is also handling the screenplay, production and direction of the movie in addition to acting in the lead role.
"Yes, my daughter is acting in Prakash Raj's Naanu Nanna Kanasu. We are almost done discussing the film with Prakash," said Jailakshmi, Amulya's mother, who refused to comment on Ramya's age.
Prakash was not available for comment.
