A police jawan was injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Narayanpur district

Raipur: A police jawan on Wednesday, was injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Narayanpur district. The incident took place when security forces were patrolling near Amdai Ghati (valley) under Chhote Dongar police station where road construction work is underway, Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena told PTI.

The construction work is going on on Narayanpur-Orchha road in the Amdai region, around 350 kms away from the state capital. While the personnel were passing through a patch on the Amdai valley, the ultras detonated a powerful IED leaving constable Naresh Chaudhary injured, he said.

About 200 meter long electric wire was found from the spot which suggests that the blast was triggered from inside the jungle, he said. The injured was airlifted to Raipur for treatment, he said.

Meanwhile, a combing operation has been launched in the region to nab the attackers, the SP added.
