The new Punjabi Dhaba at Lokhandwala doesn't disappoint. What's on recommends Pani Puris and Papri Chaat, the quickest way to visit street-food lanes of Chandni Chowk Tandoori Chicken
We were dreading the thought of reviewing yet another new hole-in-the-wall, Punjabi eatery at Lokhandwala, simply because the last few one's had almost urged us to go on vigorous diets. But Gurma Gurum Punjabi Dhaba gave us a reason to believe that some eateries do care about quality service. The tiny restaurant located just outside the madness of the Lokhandwala Complex, may be cramped up on space, but is completely high on paisa-vasool khana.
The ambience: Space being a huge deterrent, the du00e9cor is simple, with only five tables occupying the area. We loved the vibrant daris pinned on the roof to give it a dhaba-like interiors.
The food: We started our meal by gorging on Pani Puris (Rs 20) and Papri Chaat (Rs 30), which transported us directly to the authentic street-food lanes of Chandni Chowk. Our veg main course comprised Punjabi style Chole Chawal (Rs 52) and Special Paneer Lababdar (Rs 112) u2014 both were deliciously rich and spicy. And we couldn't decide whether tender and well-marinated Tandoori Chicken (90) was better than creamy Butter Chicken (112).
The service: The waiters were polite and attentive. The only thing that bothered us was that our order took at least 40 minutes to get to our table, an uncomfortably long wait when your stomach is churning with hunger.
At: Opposite HDFC, near Green Acres, Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri (W).
