In the first case, the VIB officials arrested Rameshwar Sah, a revenue official of Bagaha in West Champaran district while accepting Rs 30,000 from one Suresh Prasad for mutation of his land.
"Prasad, a resident of Malkauli village under Patkhauli police station in West Champaran complained to VIB about the bribe demand. We verified it and found it to be true," said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohammad Jamiruddin, who led the VIB trap team.
The DSP said accordingly a trap team was constituted in Patna and it successfully caught Sah with chemically treated notes, which Prasad had handed over to him. An additional Rs 19,000 was recovered from him. In the other instance, revenue official Janardan Sharma of Bakhtiyarpur in Patna district was nabbed red-handed while accepting Rs 6,000 from one Sunil Kumar for facilitating mutation of his land.
The trap team, which caught Sharma, was led by DSP Ali Ansari and the operation was conducted after verification of the complaint filed by Kumar.
Both the revenue officials are being interrogated, and will be produced in the special vigilance court later on. The VIB has so far trapped over 56 state government officials this year on bribery charges.
