Pakistan sets free Indian national after 7 years

An Indian national, who was arrested by the Pakistani police around seven years ago, on Monday crossed over to India after being set free by the neighbouring country


Attari (Amritsar): An Indian national, who was arrested by the Pakistani police around seven years ago, on Monday crossed over to India after being set free by the neighbouring country.

Mohammed Waqar was arrested by Pakistani police while he was found without valid travelling documents, including passport and visa.

Waqar, resident of Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarabad, expressed "happiness" on reaching India.

He said that he remained in different jails of Pakistan during his seven-year jail term for illegal border crossing from India to Pakistan.

Waqar crossed over to India on the basis of Emergency Travel Certificate issued by the Islamabad-based Indian High Commission in Pakistan.
