While 25 services were cancelled in the OHE snap incident that occurred day before, yesterday's resulted in cancellation of about 14. Both the incidents occurred on the Central up line. Commuters claimed that yesterday they saw scores of gangmen and engineers trying to fix the problem and they took two hours to replace the broken cables. "The glitch was rectified within two hours," confirmed V Malegaonkar, chief PRO for CR.
Similarly, the services remained affected for almost two hours after an OHE snapped near Ambernath station. This resulted in cancellation of 25 services. Madhu Kotian, a member of the Mumbai Rail Upnagriya Pravasi Sangh, said, "The railway administration should ensure better maintenance, as regular breakdowns are inconveniencing commuters greatly."
Commenting of the breakdowns, railway officials claim that weather played an important role in such cases, as fluctuation in temperature results in sudden contraction and expansion of the cables, which eventually results in them snapping.u00a0
