A village head was shot dead and his body burnt by Maoists at Kamarpada village in Orissa-Jharkhand border, police said on Sunday.
About 50 ultras stormed into the village and took Sohan Nayak(50) to a nearby forest and shot him dead on the suspicion of being a police informer on Friday before setting his body on fire.
Nayak had been warned by the ultras earlier not to give information about them to police.
Jharkhand police, led by Chaibasa police superintendent reached the spot and retrieved the half-burnt body and sent it for autopsy, officer in-charge of K Bolang police station BK Beg said.
