A self-confessed foodie, Priya Dutt could have been a good campaigner for dal and green peas

Priya Dutt's thought for food

I eat: both vegetarian and a non-vegetarian, but I prefer the latter. Chicken is my hot favourite.

My day begins quite early: with a hot cup of tea. I prefer Tata Gold.

My breakfast is: mostly brown bread toast with muesli.

I lunch on: mostly chicken sandwiches or home food like dal, roti, chawal, subzi and a non-veg dish, preferably chicken. I usually carry my dabba from home.

My dinner comprises: dal, bhaji, roti and one non-veg dish yes, that's a must have.

My fitness regime is: walking... I picked up this habit from my father (Sunil Dutt) when I walked for 78 days with him on his Peace March from Mumbai to Punjab.

I am allergic to: nothing

I hate: nothing in food, I am a foodie.

One food or drink that has a childhood memory for me: golas sherbet. I used to have during my school days outside my school. My friends and I used to really freak out on it.

When I am travelling, I always carry: water, a must; I carry lots of bottles to keep me going.

In the evenings I binge on: Snacks like dhoklas from a sweet mart at Pali Naka.

In my fridge you'll always find: different types of cheese.

My Sunday lunch is mostly: In a restaurant like Royal China and Gajalee.

Favourite cook from my family: is my cook Chottu. His dal is the best. I just love it.

The one dish I excel in: chicken dishes. My family thinks I am a very good cook. And there have been no cooking disaster!

My best dining friends are: Bunty, my brother-in-law, Namrata didi and my nieces. We all are foodies. We really like to eat out often.

My comfort food is: khichdi when I am not well.

My favourite holiday dining experience: has been in Thailand. I just love the amazing seafood they have to offer.

In food, I can't resist buying: different types of cheese.

Food I like to buy at a supermarket abroad: are salad dressings. I like to buy different varieties of them.

I feel guilty about: nothing, absolutely no guilt pangs.

My favourite dishes from my hometown: I am a Mumbaikar, and I love the fried fish, dal and chicken.

My idea of a romantic meal: is to have a candle light dinner on my terrace with my husband, eating some really good food.

My favourite restaurants in India and abroad are: Royal China, Gajalee in Mumbai. I just love eating street food and local cuisine abroad.

My favourite cuisines: is Oriental food, it tops the list.

My favourite spice: is green chilly.

My favourite kitchen appliance: is a frying pan because it has multi-utility quality.

My favourite beverage: is nimbu paani. I just love it.

My favourite poison: is water.

My favourite fruits:
are oranges and mangoes.

I am a diehard dessert person and my favourite: is caramel custard.

I think I resemble: a watermelon because I am cool and sweet.

During the peace march with my father: we took our own cook from Mumbai, and we mostly ate dal, rice, subzi and roti. My favourite subzi is green peas.

Priya Dutt's favourite recipe: Roast Chicken

Ingredients

One full chicken
2-3 tbsp of butter
4-5 pods of garlic (chopped finely)
1-2 tsp of black pepper (coarsely ground)
Salt to taste
5-6 basil leaves
1 whole pod of garlic (shelled)

Method
Wash the full chicken and pat dry. Make a paste of garlic, salt, pepper, oregano and some butter. Apply this paste on the chicken inside the skin. Keep the chicken in the fridge for two hours.u00a0u00a0
Take the basil leaves and full pod of garlic and stuff inside the chicken. Put the chicken on the tandoor rod and roast for 40 minutes, slowly turning at intervals.
Roast chicken is ready.
Serve hot with rotis.
