Former Congress MP Nilesh Rane was yesterday arrested in Ratnagiri district, in connection with an assault case. Nilesh, son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Narayan Rane, is accused of assaulting and kidnapping Sandeep Sawant, Congress’ Chiplun unit chief.
Former Congress MP Nilesh Rane was yesterday arrested in Ratnagiri district, in connection with an assault case. Nilesh, son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Narayan Rane, is accused of assaulting and kidnapping Sandeep Sawant, Congress' Chiplun unit chief.
Nilesh was later produced before the magistrate court in Chiplun, which rejected his bail application and remanded him in 14-day judicial custody. He was placed under arrest after he surrendered before Chiplun police around 8 am.
The Bombay High Court had on Tuesday refused him pre-arrest bail and told him to surrender before the police by May 23.
