Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is generally associated with Eid because his blockbusters are usually released on that auspicious day.

But, a group of Kiwi police officers have made sure his name is associated with Diwali, at least in New Zealand, as well in the future. They have managed that by dancing to the Bollywood star's chartbusters at a Diwali celebration.

A video, that's gone viral, shows a group of New Zealand police officers dancing to 'Thana mien baithe on duty, bajaye Pandey ji seeti' from 'Dabangg' and 'Baby ko bass pasand hai' from Sultan.

The Salman Khan of New Zealand?

While the Canterbury Police are dancing against a backdrop that says "Police Line: Do Not Cross" and in front of a cheering crowd. The video, shared by journalist Chriss Lynn on Facebook, has been shared over eight thousand times and viewed over 600k times.

The Kiwi boys in blue are famous for their moves. In May this year, the New Zealand police released their take on the "Running Man" dance craze and challenged police forces around the world to one-up them. The global response included New York City's finest recording a video on a pier by the Brooklyn Bridge, and contributions by Scottish and Australian police.

The dance videos are part of a light-hearted approach by New Zealand police to soften their public image and recruit 400 new officers by the end of the year - particularly of Maori, Pacific Island, Middle Eastern and Indian descent.

The Kiwi cops took flight on stage...

They had then in early October released another video that also went viral. That clip uploaded on the NZ Police Recruitment Facebook page showed the cops bust out a beat in a lift. As the lift goes down, more cops enter the lift and join in the dance.

The video was believed to be another stunt to attract new recruits.
