A case has been registered on the complaint of a young woman lawyer who alleged abuse, physical attack and sexual harassment by a car owner in central Delhi, police said on Monday. The lawyer's car scraped a Mercedes Benz driven by the accused, who was accompanied by two friends, near the India International Centre around 9.45 p.m. on January 17.
The complainant said the accused man abused and misbehaved with her. He later climbed on the car bonnet and even punched her. "More than 10 persons gathered at the spot as she shouted for help but none came forward to help her or call police," the complainant said.
"The accused fell off the car bonnet as she drove to the main road. She filed a police complaint on January 20 but the First Information Report was filed after 13 days of the incident," she alleged. "We have registered a case of sexual harassment against the accused. Efforts are on to identify him with the help of closed-circuit television footages from the roads in the area," Additional Commissioner of Police B.K. Singh told IANS.
