Hence, to make use of available time more effectively, the politicos have taken help of tools like mobile phones and computers to woo tech-savvy Bangaloreans.

The candidates are campaigning though blogs, e-mails, social networking sites, SMSes and even through recorded voice calls.

"We have adopted these hi-tech ways to reach to our voters as they are quite effective," said P R Ramesh, former mayor who is contesting from Vishweshwarapura.

He added, "I'm appealing to my voters through SMSes and e-mails, as rallies and use of loud speakers causes a lot of disturbance to students who are preparing for SSLC and PUC exams, which will be held next month."

Besides beating the time constraint and being pollution free, the candidates feel that such methods are even helpful to reach to the tech-savvy voters.

"As most of the people in Bangalore are familiar with Internet, I have got a website made that's helping me to reach out to the tech-savvy population," said Ramesh Yadav, a contestant from Shanthalanagar.

"Gone are the days when corporators were blamed of not having any knowledge about the latest technology," said Shivkumar A, a voter who had received an SMS asking to vote for a particular candidate.
