Software training firm NIIT Ltd on Monday said it has bagged a five-year contract worth Rs 84.38 crore from the Gujarat government for providing computer education in 1,870 schools in the state.
In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, NIIT said it has bagged an order from the Department of Education, Government of Gujarat, to introduce Computer Aided Learning in 1,870 high and higher secondary schools for 9-12 classes in Gujarat.
The contract would impact 9,00,000 students across Gujarat. Earlier, the company had entered into a similar agreement with the Rajasthan government for providing computer education in 1,672 schools.
"We are honoured to partner with the Department of Education, Gujarat for the first time, in their initiative to promote computer education across 1,870 government schools in the state...The confidence placed in us by two new states, Gujarat and Rajasthan, bears testimonial to our cause," NIIT Ltd School Learning Solutions President L Balasubramanian said.

Shares of NIIT were trading at Rs 31.80, up 1.76 per cent on the BSE.
