The New York-style Broadway glitz and glamour hit Mumbai a couple of months ago, and is back on popular demand this weekend.

Those who missed out on Blue Frog's Gold Night in July can slip into their best Jimmy Choos and totter to The Frog for a show that will feature some of the best Broadway musicals.



Think Cabaret, Victor Victoria, Gypsy, Evita, The Wiz, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Lion King, Grease and Cats.

"When we performed at the Blue Frog in July, we had a packed house," says theatre actor Delna Mody.

Mody will perform along with Jazz Fusion artist Merlin DeSouza, theatre actor Asif Ali Beg and actor-singers Caralisa Monteiro and Neuman Pinto.

"Performing at a club is different from performing in a theatre and might not allow for as much experimentation. But in the intimate setting you can see the audience reactions and that's great motivation," says Mody.

Songs like If You Were Gay (whichu00a0 Neuman and Asif will perform using live hand-puppets) and Paris Makes Me Horny might be too risque for city audiences, but Mody promises that the evening will be a lot of fun.

Merlin adds, "Even if you aren't familiar with the numbers, they are entertaining stories, so you are bound to love them."

If you missed Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival's award-winning films, here's your chance to catch them on the big screen, once again. Bombay Dost is screening four of the films on Sunday.

Two strangers meet on a bumpy, crowded bus in Lost and Found, while Flying Inside My Body explores how the body can become a powerful physical language to express dissent over societal norms and conventions.

Holding Hands is a shocking documentary on Craig and Shane who suffer a brutal hate crime.

The last film on offer is Amnesia: The James Brighton Enigma which is about an American who wakes up in a deserted part of Montreal with no memory, except that he is gay.

Visa power gets a new meaning

Section Yellow deals with the bureaucratic reins that one has to face while securing visas in an attempt to cross boundaries. The theme is similar to Pakistani visual artist Bani Abidi's earlier works.

Her current show continues to explore notions regarding space, objects and situations that exert control over societies.

The exhibition is centred around a 12-minute video titled, The Distance From Here, and also includes photographs that take a closer look at the various elements at play at a consular office.

The work is a look at the psychological effect that the process of seeking visas has on applicants queuing up in lines.

Through multiple frames, Abidi portrays how an applicant goes through the phases of preparation, anxiety and patience.

The video is a play on coercion, using migration as a metaphor, while the photographs highlight minute details from the video.
