In a fresh development in the 2012 hotel brawl case involving actor Saif Ali Khan, both prosecution and the accused party have referred the matter for mediation.
The judge said, "The procecution has referred the matter for mediation and the accused has no problem with the mediation. So the matter is referred to the mediation centre attached to Esplanade court."
A mediator has been requested to be appointed for the matter.
Actor Saif Ali Khan was present before the court while the other two accused Bilal Amrohi and Shakeel Ladak were absent. Even the complainant, NRI businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma, was not present for the hearing.
Khan's advocate Girish Kulkarni said, "In mediation, both the parties would be asked whether they want to withdraw the case case mutually."
Saif Ali Khan's lawyer, after consultation with the actor, requested for a date for the next hearing anytime after 2nd week of July, after which July 27 was fixed for the mediation.
Kulkarni said, "On 27th July, the date for mediation has been fixed, if on that day the matter is not solved the next date for the trial would be given."
